In 1966, the entire Erlich family visited the Soviet Union, which at that time was an unusual tourist destination. Erlich was able to meet with artists in Moscow and see some of their private works. Erlich saved labels from wine and vodka bottles, later using them as a basis for a collage representation of The Kremlin. Paintings done in the early 1970's after trips to Switzerland and Italty, were painted in bright colors reminiscent of the impressionistists, but were actually among the few overtly representational paintings she had created in many years.
